The idea of watching TV on your computer is an enticing one, and it's made sites like Hulu, which streams television content online, very popular. Unfortunately, iTV Media Player is something else entirely. It's really little more than a clunky browser with advertising, and we're not sure why anyone would want to use it.

The program's interface is plain and doesn't immediately make sense; we weren't sure how to find the actual content. Eventually we figured out that all iTV Media Player does is link to six sites--Veetle, TikiLIVE, DirectOn, Justin.tv, NexUSAtv, and LiveTVnow--and display their content. These sites are similar to YouTube, but they let users stream live video. That's all well and good, but there's absolutely no reason to use iTV Media Player to view them; they worked much better in our regular browser. The same was true of iTV's music, chat, weather, and Web features. We suppose that it could be useful to have all of this online content grouped together within one application, but it really wasn't; iTV was extremely slow to load pretty much everything we tried. The only reason for this program's existence seems to be the advertising that's included within the interface. At least, we hope that the publisher is gaining something from it, because users certainly aren't.

iTV Media Player comes as a ZIP file and is accessible after extraction with no need for installation. It comes with a Help file, but there's nothing in it that can make this program worth using. We do not recommend this program.
